Types of Insurance

Package Policies: Several basic property and/or liability policies combined to form a single policy. This can include Commercial General Liability and Commercial Property being grouped together to form one policy.

Commercial General Liability: Covers liability exposures that are common to all organizations; a combination of three separate coverage's, each with its own insuring agreement and exclusions: Coverage A = general liability; Coverage B = personal injury and advertising injury liability; and Coverage C = medical payments.

Commercial Property: Covers risk of loss to an organization's buildings or personal property. Includes buildings, personal property of the insured, personal property of others on site and in insured's possession. Coverage can be on an all risk or specific perils basis.

Workers' Compensation: Workers' compensation is a form of insurance that provides compensation medical care for employees who are injured in the course of employment, in exchange for mandatory relinquishment of the employee's right to sue his or her employer for the tort of negligence.

Business Automobile: Business auto policy (BAP) -- A standard business automobile policy that is designed to cover the liability and physical damage of motor vehicles. Liability coverage can be provided for the organization, regardless of whether a nonprofit, a staff member, volunteer or other party owns the vehicle.

Commercial Umbrella: Provides excess coverage over several primary policies, such as CGL, auto liability and employer's liability. Increases the amount of liability insurance beyond that of the basic policies carried by the nonprofit and reaches out to cover areas of unknown exposures lacking in the basic insurance policy.

Inland Marine: Also known as a floater endorsement. Insure special items, such as computers, light and sound equipment, camera equipment, contractor's equipment, etc at an agreed amount.

Bonds: Bond insurance is a service whereby issuers of a bond can pay a premium to a third party, who will provide interest and capital repayments as specified in the bond in the event of the failure of the issuer to do so. The premium requested for insurance on a bond is a measure of the perceived risk of failure of the issuer.
